Creative ways to include your pets in your big day

Include your pet in your wedding–here’s how:

Your wedding might be the most important day of your life. You plan for everything to be perfect on this day, so why not include your pet in your wedding? Having your pet at your wedding is not only fun but will also give a creative twist to your special day. Here are 5 ideas we came up with to help you plan and enjoy your big day with your pet:

Walk down the aisle

This might be the most cute and common idea that will make your guests just “awww” as your pet walks down the aisle into the chapel or church. You can plan to have your pet carry a basket of flowers, have a flower leash, or just walk by the side with your bridesmaids.

Have your pet as the ring bearer

Giving this role to your pet is making them extra special because it will be carrying the most important bond of marriage- the rings that are a symbol of eternal love. You can arrange a small basket for your pet to carry the rings or hang them around their collar.
Include your pet in your photo shoot

If your pet is not easy to train for the “walk down the aisle” ceremony, then you can still include it in a photo shoot that will be an eternal memory of your special day. Make sure to talk to your photographer on how you would like to have some special pictures with your pet, and ideally choose an outdoor location so that your pet doesn’t get anxious or nervous.

Make the reception entrance with your pet

Many couples love to plan a special act for the entrance to the reception with their guests. This is a perfect moment to walk together as a married couple along with your pet and maybe with a special song playing in the background as you walk through an aisle or to the middle of the dance floor of your venue. You can also make a short video and play it while you spend these few moments before opening with a toast or speech.

Dance to a song with your pet

If you have the energetic and playful type of pet, dancing to a song is a creative way to include your pet. After the classic opening dances, you can have a family dance and include whoever you want. Dance to a song with your parents, your brothers and your pet for a cute personal moment of the new family that has started on this special day.

Some things to consider before doing any of these options is analyzing if your pet has the personality and health to be with you in your big day, because you don’t want to over stress an animal or force it to do something just for the pictures.

Things to consider

Your pet’s safety should come first before deciding. You should also look into a pet sitter for that day so that they can play together and not have him or her tied up. You should also consider the venue being an outdoor place so that your pet can be comfortable too. Make sure to make it as natural as possible for your pet to have fun.

Don't forget to have your dog groomed so they can look their best!

These are just a few of many ideas on how you can include your pet in your big day. Our pets are our family, they are with us every single day of our lives, and even though they cannot speak to us they are loyal, loving and caring animals that should be included in important moments of our lives. They speak to us through their love and companionship so don’t forget them on your special day.
